Expert care to help you feel better during your hospital stay

Hospitalist Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham

If you need to stay in the hospital, you may face unique health concerns. The hospitalists at BID Needham will make sure you get the care you need so you can go home feeling better.

What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a physician who provides care to patients in the hospital. They only work in the hospital setting. Hospitalists are required to be Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified, board certified or certification eligible in internal medicine. Our hospitalist physicians must also complete mandatory continuing education for BID Needham employees.

Our hospitalists are uniquely qualified to treat any health issues you might have during your hospital stay. They work with other members of your care team, including your primary care provider to ensure you get the highest quality care.

Our hospitalists communicate with primary care physicians (PCPs) when:

  • You are admitted to the hospital.
  • If you have a significant change in your health status, or if family issues arise.
  • When you are discharged.
  • They also dictate discharge information for your medical health records.

What are the Benefits of Hospitalist Care?
