Quality & Safety

A commitment to safe, high-quality healthcare

About Our Quality of Care

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham is committed to providing the highest level of safety and quality of care for all patients, and it is embedded in our culture of safety. The hospital continuously monitors the quality of our patients' care and works to improve and innovate to deliver the highest quality care to all patients.

Recent Recognition for Quality & Safety

The Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA) honored Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham (BID Needham) with a first-place Accountable Care Compass Award, which celebrates provider excellence and innovation in the delivery of high-quality, safe and efficient care. The “Enhancing Culture & Leadership” award recognized BID Needham for sustaining transformational change by creating a culture of safety in a hospital setting.

In addition, in a recent survey of employees conducted by Press Ganey, an independent third party, the hospital measured in the 96th percentile among regional hospitals for providing a “culture of safety” for staff and patients.

Building a culture of safety starts with our work force—we also rank in the 97th percentile of our peer group for job satisfaction, as shown in our third-party employee survey.

National Patient Safety Goals

BID Needham is accredited by The Joint Commission. Every year, The Joint Commission focuses on a number of National Patient Safety Goals with the purpose of promoting specific improvements in patient safety. The goals are generally geared toward maintaining and improving the quality of patient care, the safety of medications and communication among caregivers. This hospital has continued to develop a number of improvement initiatives that address and ensure patient care safety and quality. These National Patient Safety Goals can be found on signs displayed throughout the hospital.
