BID Needham Earns Five-Out-of-Five-Star Designation From CMS

Needham, MA — Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID Needham) has received five-out-of-five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its annual quality and safety assessment. Only 12 percent of the over 4,600 hospitals that were assessed nationally received five stars as their Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating.

The Overall Hospital Quality Star rating summarizes a variety of measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The five measure groups include safety, readmission, patient experience, mortality, and timely and effective care.

"We are so proud that BID Needham received a top rating from CMS, reflecting our commitment to safety and quality,” said John Fogarty, president, BID Needham. “This recognition would not be possible without the dedication our BID Needham team has to providing the highest level of care to all patients.”

This data, found under the CMS Hospital Compare tool, is available for consumers to help them compare performance measure information and make informed decisions about where to go for health care.
